Do you agree with Doug?

“Come!  He says”

I was at the hospice day centre.  Someone said to me “You don’t have to be a churchgoer to be a Christian!  (Trying to convince me, or trying to avoid my view?)  Then I thought … why do I believe the opposite … I read and remembered a phrase “Listen, I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears my voice and opens the door  I will come in”. Jesus always knocks, but  we must listen for his voice.

He will come in … he has for me, he will for anyone.

How to hear him?  Bible reading brings us face to face with God.  God is revealed to us through his Word by the Holy Spirit.

Belonging to a church – I said to my friend at the hospice – reinforces our belief and faith.  If you’re a believer, being without a church is like a footballer without a club.  You need to be with similar thinkers.  We aren’t strong enough on our own.  We need to come together to encourage each other.

If you have the smallest indication that God is knocking at your door, make the greatest decision you’ll ever make.  Come he says!  Reading his word and belonging to a church are essential steps in your Christian journey!

Can you be a Christian and not be a churchgoer.  I don’t think so!
