We were privileged to have John Proctor from Westminster College to lead our service recently. The subject of our worship was prayer. After lunch in the hall John led a session on prayer, particularly the variety of prayer. The study was based on Luke 11, 1-13 and Psalm 42. The first part of the reading from Luke is the Lord’s Prayer and the second part illustrated here is of the parable of the friend knocking on his neighbour’s door at midnight. These examples serve to contrast pattern prayer and problem prayer. The same theme continues in Psalm 42 illustrating public prayer and private prayer. John continued with a fascinating exploration of other varieties and aspects of prayer. The time went all too quickly but we went home with much to think about, refreshed and inspired. Thank you John!
